Switchvox, a provider of Asterisk-based solutions (IPBX and VoIP phone systems) for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) was acquired in September 2007 by Digium ®, Inc. and takes Asterisk to a whole new level.
Switchvox products offer a very complete list of features. The GUI is very well done and simple. The price for the appliances (servers) is quite compelling and also the fact that the product includes a support package from Digium makes this a very attractive offering.
Switchvox was also identified this year as one of the most revolutionary PBX platforms, for its ability to integrate Unified Communications functionalities, as well as its ability to let end users use or even create mash-ups such as, tying caller ID to Google Maps, Salesforce.com, Sugar CRM and many other applications with its comprehensive API. Imagine a customer service rep (CSR) at a small/medium company and a phone call comes in from a customer. As the phone rings, up on the screen pops all the information about that customer, pulled from the CRM database in Salesforce.com or Sugar CRM, plus other information from other databases and finally a nice Google Map showing where that customer is located and potentially other information like the locations of the nearest offices. Now imagine,†¦.all that is running in a relatively inexpensive non proprietary server with open standards based telephony software.
Switchvox is the world’s first truly easy to set up and maintain PBX system that can be customized for the end user needs by the reseller in a matter of just a few hours. Based on Linux and Asterisk software, Switchvox has created software products that fits small and larger businesses needs. The Switchvox SOHO product enables small and home offices to easily and affordably create and manage their phone system, using traditional analog lines, as well as VoIP services. This product is offered as SOHO Software bundle w/ 10 users and it can be with CD or as simple as by Download. The Switchvox SMB product is a full-featured, more advanced IP PBX system for larger organizations. This product is offered as SMB Software bundle w/ 10 users and it can be with CD or as simple as by Download. On the product list there are also available products for upgrading from SOHO to SMB as well as a CD replacement unit.
Switchvox software currently only supports Digium cards. All Analog and Digital PCI cards and PCIe cards will self-discover upon loading Switchvox software. BRI (B410P) cards are not supported at the moment. Switchvox software can be offered as a bundle with a server and 10 users.
- Tower + SOHO + 10 users SOHO Silver subscription bundle
- Tower + SMB + 10 users SMB Silver subscription bundle
- AA350NR + SMB + 10 users SMB Silver subscription bundle
- AA350 + SMB + 10 users SMB Silver Subscription bundle
This Switchvox appliance hardware only has PCI interfaces. Customers can also install SwitchVox Software on their own server hardware as long as it’s on certified server hardware: The Supermicro PDSMA+ Motherboard or Intel D945GCCR desktop board.
Subscriptions offer a manufacturer backed support mechanism that has proven to be the type of backing the market is demanding for SMB installations. The subscription business model will be included on the Switchvox portfolio, so, all the software will be sold with a Silver subscription and it can be upgraded to Gold or Platinum if it is required.
Digium, warrants all Switchvox appliances for a period of one (1) year Switchvox hardware products, but there are options for an extended 3 Year Warranty (for year 2 and 3).
