ABP at Mobotix Partner Conference in Miami
Mobotix is one of the hottest products in the IP communications space. This German manufacturer of IP Surveillance products has proven to be innovative in all aspects covering everything from their unique looking cameras exterior design, to active component choice, functionality and feature set. The company is really a software developer that happens to write code for its own hardware. In a way these IP cameras are to the conventional surveillance systems what the PC was to the mainframe or what IP phones are to the legacy PBX market.
The trend is that intelligence is moving to the edge and Mobotix got it right and takes the concept to a new level. At ABP being a specialty distributor of data equipment for IP communications and IP phones we love the fact the fact that Mobotix IP cameras are Open Standards based and embrace the SIP protocol. This immediately and seamlessly made these IP cameras compatible with ABP’s line of IP PBX solutions, IP Phones and IP Video phones.
This week’s Mobotix first conference in the Americas in Miami was a great success. With partners all across the Americas participating, a partner exhibit, interoperability partner presentations, new product announcements and partner training this was a valuable event for all. ABP as a specialty distributor in this space had the priviledge and opportunity to exhibit solutions combining IP surveillance cameras with IP PBXs and IP based paging and IP Public Addressing solutions. We also had a demonstration of IP cameras calling IP Video phones on certain alarm events which is very useful for escalation.The Mobotix conference was rich in content and education for all. One of the most amazing aspects was the amount of different applications for these top of the line day-night Megapixel cameras with two-way audio and intelligence for pre-processing, rule management and so much more. Weather monitoring in the most remote places in the world, underwater cameras, night cameras, high-security cameras, industrial applications, business monitoring, public buildings, literally an endless collection of exciting applications that are being embraced by dynamic data VAR and integrators more than the conventional CCTV industry with the exception of some of the larger better capitalized companies that decided to embrace IP convergence.
For ABP this is the same experience we have had in the Telephony space all over again.The most exciting part for us is the creative opportunity this represents for so many of our data networking centric customers that can embrace this technology in an heartbeat. The cross pollination we are seeing combining IP telephony, IP surveillance, IP Paging, wireless and IP communication skills is just remarkable and it has been great fun to brainstorm solutions with the many integrators from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America.
